The Emirates ID renewal mirrors the new application but is faster because most data is pre-filled in the ICP system. The renewal sequence:

Practical consequences of an expired Emirates ID can exceed the formal late fee: bank accounts may be frozen, mobile contracts can suspend service, government portal logins fail, and any visa renewal or new contract requires the valid Emirates ID.
